Accounting Director (Internal)
Atlanta, GA
 
This position is responsible for the overall financial reporting of the consolidated North Highland companies and reports to the CFO.  This consists of ten plus US and three UK companies.
 
Responsibilities
  • Monthly G/L close oversight for all US/UK and Consolidated entities,
  • Monthly financial statements, including management P&L’s
  • Oversight of all compliance oriented activities
  • Technical accounting position research and documentation
 
In addition, the Accounting Director drives the monthly close process for all entities and ensures that accurate financial statements are prepared and distributed to senior management on a timely basis. On the quarter point, summary financial statements along with supporting details and analytics are prepared for the Board of Director’s.
 
This position is also the owner of the annual financial and KSOP audits. This role works very closely with the external auditors and coordinates planning activities accordingly. He/she prepares the audited financial statements and footnotes and attends the annual Audit Committee meeting of the BOD and addresses any issues/concerns that may arise from the audit(s).
 
Other responsibilities of the Accounting Director are to:
  • Hire, develop and retain staff and ensure that individual skillsets are properly aligned with their respective roles. Ensure that performance evaluations are completed on an annual basis and appropriate feedback given. Motivate employees.
  • Coordinate with Business Management and/or markets on information needed for time sensitive RFP’s.
  • Perform accounting research on various accounting issues as they arise and keep current with changes in the guidelines.
  • Develop and enforce company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Review quarterly tax estimates and annual filings before submission.
  • Certify that all GL accounts are reconciled in accordance with US and UK GAAP.
  • Participate as a leader on special projects as required.
 
Requirements
  • 8-10 years.  At least 3 years with a public accounting firm and at least 3 years in a financial reporting management position
  • Bachelors of Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Certified Public Accountant, CPA
  • Must be detailed oriented, possess strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage a team remotely
  • Demonstrates unquestioned integrity and excellent professional judgment
  • Proven success in quickly learning new systems and tools to manage business functions 
  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, accounting practices and procedures, including identification of control risks and key controls
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Strong sense of urgency and deadline focused
 
Preferred Skills
  • Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Prior management experience is required
  • Considerable knowledge of UK GAAP and statutory filing requirements
  • Prior experience leading an audit
